- Was Anastasia your first dubbing role?
Yes my very first.
I auditioned for it. I was contacted by Jón Ólafsson who was producing all the vocals for the music for the film and they sent me all the 3 songs I was supposed to sing and I learned them and tried to sound as much like the original vocal from the cartoon as I could and I got the role.
If I remember correctly we were 8 female singers auditioning and I was the one who got the job 'cause I sounded the most like the american singer and the movie studio in LA were the ones that made the choice of who got the job. The American director and producers were involved in the whole dubbing process and everything was sent to them.
It was a lot of fun and especially because I have always loved cartoons with music in them like "Beauty and The Beast" and "The Little Mermaid" so it was such an honour for me to be able to be her singing voice in Anastasia. I mean, I was 20 years old when I sang those songs but I think I did pretty well.

- Did you also audition for the speaking parts?
No just the singing voice. Meg Ryan was her speaking voice in America and there was a Broadway singer that sang for the character (Liz Callaway).
- What do you think of the Icelandic lyrics of the songs?
I think the lyrics are very beautiful and I love both songs very much.
"Vaskur björn, vængjaglit, guggin er vetrarsólin" ; ("Lively bear, glitterwings; despondence is the winter sun") - beautiful line.
I haven't really watched a lot of Icelandic dubbed cartoons but I remember seeing "The Little Mermaid" in icelandic and I thought that was great.

- In 2008, you sang "Once Upon a December" live for the concert of Jólagestir Björgvins, how was it singing this song after ten years?
|
It was so much fun and having that huge orchestra and men's choir was perfect for that song. I also performed the song 3 years ago at a small christmas concert with a smaller band and that was really great too. It's just such a beautiful song that it really doesn't matter how you perform it, if it's with a huge band or just a guitar player, it always touches my heart strings.

- Have you been involved in any dubbings since Anastasia?
Yes I sang and talked for a bird in Litla Lirfan Ljóta (an Icelandic short movie, ed). I've been more focused on writing and recording my own music and touring the world. I moved to LA in 2000 and then moved back to Iceland for a couple of years and then moved back to LA permanently in 2009 so I haven't been involved in any dubbings. But I think I would love doing it again.
- What is your favourite Disney song?
"So This Is Love" from Cinderella.
- Did you know you had fans all over the world for your performance as Anastasia?
No I didn't. But thank you! That's very cool.
- What are you doing nowadays?
For the last 10 years I've been in the band Steed Lord and been living in Los Angeles for 7 years working on my music and touring all over the world and writing and recording our music. I just formed a new band called Blissful earlier this year and our first single and music video just came out a week ago. I'm also a coach on The Voice! in Iceland and we are taping our second season so I'm in Iceland now for 6 weeks to work on The Voice!, which is great cause I can spend some time with family and friends.
I am also a clothing designer and have my own clothing line called Kali which is made in Los Angeles and is available online.
Here is my newest single and video : ELEVATE ! Available now on Itunes!
